I am officially an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant!!!
In many ways, this certification meant more to me than when I became a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner. Why? I guess because this certification was earned entirely by my own hard work and studying. As a Nurse Practitioner, I was directed through classes and clinicals which prepared me for the boards. My preparation as a lactation consutant was self-guided...through the 2500 hours of clinical preparation and endless studying. I had many wonderful mentors along the way who encouraged me and made me believe that I could and would achieve this goal, and to them, I am forever indebted.
