Last weekend they came. Without me asking, they were there. My relief pitchers, my floatation devices, my buoys. They came, not because they necessarily knew her, but because they love us. Our family, our friends, our people.
And despite the sad overtone of the weekend, we still took the time to enjoy our time together. It's unfortunate that it is life's defining moments: births, birthdays, baptisms, marriages, holidays, and deaths, that often bring the masses together. It should be just a regular day that we stop the crazy merry-go-round of life, and enjoy each other. Because it is the regular, everyday where life is really lived.
And so we lived. Breathed in the moment, and savored it. Because it's not everyday where "crazy" Uncle Joey gets to wrestle with his nieces and nephews.

Or you just get to hang out with the world's best sister in laws...

We enjoy life because cousins are the best friends you can ever have. And because they are family they are required to love you, but also because they really, really like you.

Even if they push their Gator propaganda on you...

We enjoy life because despite our best attempts at looking "presentable" when going to get Nonnie from the airport, we just couldn't resist splashing in the sink just prior to leaving. Life is messy, no matter how hard we try otherwise...

And then when we finally found Nonnie at the airport, there were nothing but smiles and snuggles...

We enjoy life because a mother's proudest moments are when she realizes that her son's dreams and aspirations are finally realized....(especially when he wears Garnet & Gold..."Go 'Noles!)

We enjoy the moments when sometimes you just have to bust a move and throw your arms up and yell, "hell ya"...just because...

and somedays you just have to "Rock it...", like no one is watching...

I love our family, our friends, our people. We gathered together last weekend to remember someone who we loved very deeply and who loved us, but has gone on before us. An angel to watch over us and protect us.
We enjoy life today, the present, because it is truly is a gift.

And although we don't always get the opportunity, we are definitely better when we're together.
